Pressure washing is a great way to get the exterior of your home in tip-top shape. From your whitewashed fence to your deck, pressure washing can strip away layers of built-up grime and make nearly everything look as good as new. The downside? Pressure-washing cleaning solutions are often filled with harmful pollutants, and as these solutions are rinsed away, the runoff can affect local plant life or aquatic systems.
That’s where Charlie’s comes in. Charlie’s Soap is committed to providing eco-friendly cleaning solutions that really work—even for your pressure washer. If you’re looking for a sustainable way to get that unbeatable deep clean, you’re in the right place. Here’s how you can pressure wash using Charlie’s Soap.
1. Pre-Rinse
For a pristine clean, start by rinsing the surface with water before adding any product. Doing a pre-rinse will strip away the top layer of grime and allow our cleaners to penetrate the dirt and grease. If you’re working on a larger area, it may be a good idea to break it into smaller sections to prevent overdrying.
2. Add Charlie’s Soap
Then, you’re ready for the main event. Add 1 part Charlie’s Soap water-based 1001 Degreaser to 4 parts water. Our all-purpose degreaser is designed to take on the toughest cleaning projects, and our degreaser is biodegradable, so you don’t have to worry about runoff affecting the soil or water.
On a low-pressure setting, spray the cleaning solution on the surface. For vertical surfaces, work from the ground up to prevent streaking. For a deep clean, you can allow the product to sit on the surface for several minutes. Just be sure to keep the surface slightly wet.
3. Rinse
Once Charlie’s Soap has separated the debris from the surface, give it a thorough rinse with clean water. Our products are expertly designed to bind to dirt and grime and rinse entirely away, leaving you with a streak-free clean. If you’ve added chlorine bleach, make sure to rinse the surrounding area to remove any residual cleaner.
Pressure Wash Mold and Mildew
Trying to kill the mold creeping up the house siding? Pressure washing is a great option for mold and mildew removal. Charlie’s Soap products are ideal for gently removing mold and mildew stains without damaging the surface.
Add a little of Charlie’s non-chlorine oxygen bleach to the cleaning solution to completely kill mold spores. Our oxygen bleach has the same bleaching power without the nasty chemicals to remove mold and mildew. For extra strength, use it alongside Charlie’s 1001 Degreaser. Our powerful degreaser maximizes the efficacy of the cleaner and attacks residual mildew stains so you can minimize its environmental impact. Add as little as 1 tablespoon of bleach to a gallon of diluted cleaning solution to remove mold and mildew from your home exterior.
Low-Pressure Washing
If the surface requires low-pressure washing, no stress. You can still get a deep Charlie’s-level clean. After applying Charlie’s cleaning solution, gently scrub the surface with a soft brush or terry cloth. This light aggravation allows our degreaser to penetrate and get under stains and separate debris from the surface. Then, a low-pressure rinse will effectively strip away any residue.
Pressure Washer Maintenance
When you use a cleaning agent, it’s important to thoroughly rinse your pressure washer. Cleaning agents can corrode the pump and valve if left inside, and aluminum pumps are particularly affected by residual products. To keep your pressure washer running at full power, run clean water through the machine when you’re done using it. Charlie’s Soap cleaners are designed to rinse away completely, leaving your pressure washer completely clean and uncorroded.
